While the summer temperature outdoor is rising, the TalkItOver team and friends are getting together to check up on the team's temperature. Dealing with Coronavirus since March has been a big test for everyone's sanity and well being, but it’s certainly not the only unprecedented challenge we’re facing right now. The social unrest we are witnessing in the US for the last couple of months revealed a bigger virus that we have been dealing for centuries.

Although the show is about dating and relationships, we decided that we cannot avoid this conversation that is affecting our lives and relationships on a much larger scale. Now let's pull back the sheets...

Open Relationships: What Is It? Pros and Cons

(April recording) Would you be open to having a conversation about opening your relationship? How is it different from other non-monogamy types? Why do some people still need to explore more options when they have great loved-one at home? Do open relationships require a certain level of maturity and communication? Is it for everyone? How important are emotional and sexual boundaries in open relationships? How is it different from the traditional ones? Do open relationships mean couples are having more sex or committed to more work?

What to do if parents don't approve your relationship?

How do you deal with the situation when you are in love with someone but yours and/or your partner's parents don't approve? How to deal with the parents not liking your boyfriend/girlfriend based on cultural, religious, racial, or social differences? Are there any peaceful ways to open parents' minds? What if parents may have a very legitimate reason for disliking their child’s choice? How to justify that they have the right concerns especially if you are in love?  We are not trying to find the right answers. We are just talking it over in our Big Ole Bed. Love lessons: how to unlearn them?

What love lessons did you have to unlearn from childhood? Where did you learn it? TV? Books? Parents? Peers? Or maybe your last break-up? How many of them does a person need to overcome and learn that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship? Is Love is a learning process with the main objective to learn more about yourself? And if so might it take a lifetime...?

Do you think a dog person and a cat person can date and get along as a couple? Are you a cat person or a dog person and does it influence your dating life? According to some surveys, a dog person is more outgoing, enthusiastic and easy to get along, while a cat person is likely to be curious, independent, and more prone to worry than dog people. But there is no one formula for all. Our latest podcast is a perfect example - we had a great group of wonderful dog and cat owners in our big ole bed and we had so much fun during the recording.
